With over 500,000 followers on Instagram, the bulging bodybuilder Chul Soon – A.K.A. Asian Arnold Schwarzenegger – has arguably the most famous abs online thanks to 3,000 sit-ups a day.
But the South Korean didn’t always have the body of a Greek god. Once a skinny teenager weighing in at only 57kg (125lbs) and tired of zero respect, he decided to hit the gym for 12 years to become one massive unit.
“I was treated with disrespect,” he said. “People looked down at me in situations like I was returning goods to a store, or helping someone or speaking to strangers.”
“Now since studying more about bodybuilding, I spend less time doing sit-ups and more time eating properly. It gives you much better results.”
These days he sticks to a high protein diet consisting of brown rice, bananas, protein shakes, and supplements. He can stomach a decent amount of chicken too, 1.5kg a day. Holy shit.
And it’s paying off, now weighing in at over 100kg, the former skinny kid competes in international bodybuilding competitions and claims to be the first Korean to have done it.
His biggest win was in July 2016 when he won the Musclemania Universe Pro Champion in Las Vegas, USA.
To celebrate the occasion, he showed the audience he has decent dancing skills and isn’t just all muscle.
“I like bodybuilding because you have to compete with yourself.”
Chul has big dreams for the future. He hopes to take his training business KleanFit to the USA and China while continuing his bodybuilding for the next ten years.
If only I had this kind of dedication, maybe someday.
