It’s the time of year for giving and what could top getting your old house back after being kicked out?
One woman who knows is 89-year-old Angie Tyma after she was evicted from her Florida home then saved by her friendly neighbour who purchased the house and handed her back the keys.
The 89-year-old woman had no choice but to rent a motel room for three weeks after living in the house for decades.
Tyma lived in the house with her husband, but when he passed away a friend who lives in Europe purchased the home and rented it back to her. But when her friend got into financial trouble and stopped paying the mortgage, that’s when shit hit the fan.
Tyma didn’t realise the house had been sold to an investment firm until the new owner showed up and gave her no choice but to leave.
“They threw me out,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it.”
When 65-year-old Danielle Calder saw Tyma’s belongings getting removed from the house, Calder contacted the investment firm that purchased the house and bought it back for $167,500.
With a new coat of paint, Calder handed over the keys to Tyma on what happened to be her 89th birthday.
She told TODAY that losing the house was a scary time, but she was glad to be home.
“I went through hell and back,” she said. “I’ve lived in this house for 35 years.”
Lucky woman, wish my neighbours were this awesome.
